A wedding in Varenna perfectly captures the essence of romance and sophistication, and for our couple, this charming Lake Como village, was the ideal place to begin their journey. They chose this old fisherman village for their intimate celebration, setting the stage for their first stop on a memorable honeymoon through Italy, where they would explore the country’s most beautiful treasures. What a wonderful start to their life together!
The wedding venue
Set in an ancient fisherman’s village dating back to Roman times, Varenna is one of Lake Como’s most picturesque gems. Perched above the water, Hotel Villa Cipressi, part of the R Collection Hotels, features historic buildings from the 15th and 19th centuries and enchanting botanical gardens that cascade down to the lake. With its terraced views and romantic atmosphere, Villa Cipressi was the perfect venue for an intimate destination wedding. Surrounded by just 40 loved ones, Tori and Nolan’s day felt both elegant and deeply personal.
The bride and groom’s vision and style
Tori and Nolan envisioned a celebration that was classic, refined, and infused with understated elegance. With the guidance of Guja Pusterla, their vision came to life through a timeless palette of whites, creams, and touches of green. The carefully curated design, from lush florals by The Garden of Love to the custom invitation suite by The Light Factory, reflected their love for elegance and simplicity. Tori began her day in joyful company, popping champagne with the women closest to her. Her bridal look was both striking and graceful: a satin A-line gown by Pnina Tornai, with a strapless scoop neckline, draped skirt, and delicate Chantilly lace underlayer. A soft veil and iconic Manolo Blahnik heels completed the look. Nolan chose a timeless black tuxedo with silk details. Calm and composed, he looked truly elegant as he prepared to meet his bride.
The first look and the ceremony
Radiant in her gown, Tori made her way to a secluded garden corner for a quiet first look with Nolan — a moment filled with emotion and calm before the celebration. Although the weather had already turned rainy earlier in the day, their spirits remained high. Their attitude was nothing short of joyful, and we were fortunate: the skies held just long enough for both the first look and the ceremony to take place outdoors.
Tori and Nolan were an exceptionally sweet couple, and theirs was one of the most emotional ceremonies I’ve had the honor to witness. Their connection was undeniable a deep, heartfelt bond grounded in kindness, mutual respect, and a shared love for family. Watching them promise their lives to one another, surrounded by the people who matter most, was truly moving. The panoramic terrace, overlooking the serene waters of Lake Como, set the stage for a breathtaking ceremony. The floral altar, a grounded arch of white and cream blooms, created a romantic frame for their heartfelt vows. Emotions ran high as the couple exchanged promises in front of their closest family and friends.
After the ceremony, we slipped away for a quick boat ride before the rain arrived. Nolan was eager to experience the elegance of a Riva Aquarama, often called “the Ferrari of the sea.” Their boat portraits, set against Lake Como’s stunning backdrop, captured the joy of the moment with timeless charm. Back on land, the celebration continued with cocktails and appetizers inside Villa Cipressi. The rain only added a cozy intimacy to the afternoon.
A gorgeous plan B: the reception in the frescoed hall of Villa Cipressi
Dinner was hosted in Villa Cipressi’s frescoed hall — a regal room adorned with a ceiling mural of a vine-draped veranda. A long imperial table was styled with soft ivory and cream florals, white candles, hand-painted charger plates, and silver cutlery. The setting felt like a page from a romantic novel. Guests welcomed the newlyweds with cheers and napkin twirling, followed by delicious Italian cuisine, fine wine, and heartfelt speeches. Laughter and emotion filled the room, marking one of the most cherished parts of the day.
As night fell, everyone gathered in the courtyard for the cake cutting and first dance. Afterward, the couple shared a touching moment dedicated to Tori’s parents, who were celebrating their own wedding anniversary. It was a beautiful tribute filled with emotion.
Tori then changed into a dazzling Clio Peppiatt party dress, adorned with hand-drawn illustrations, pearls, and Swarovski beads, the perfect look for the celebration ahead. The evening unfolded with dancing, champagne, sweets, and even a cigar moment for Nolan and his guests. The joy was contagious, and the dance floor came alive with love and laughter.
Although the weather was uncertain, this Lake Como wedding unfolded as a truly unforgettable celebration, filled with elegance, intimacy, and heartfelt connection. From the quiet first look to the joyful dance floor, every detail reflected Tori and Nolan’s beautiful bond. Capturing these precious moments and witnessing the beginning of their journey was a true privilege.
